Hot in Michigan

Some Like It Hot

Some like it hot and head for the beach like this couple. I have been working late in the studio because it is in on the lower leavel of the house and it is nice and cool there. Artist tend to make their studios in all sorts of interesting spaces. I love to get invited to those special places of fellow artist where they creat those wonderful pieces we see on display at galleries.

I get up early while it's cool to get things done in the yard and around the house before that 100 degree heat hits. I think a nice beach breeze would work better.I'm sure I could paint on this beach.

Where is your studio or if you are a collector what was one of the most interesting studios you have visited? Stop in at my blog Painting of the Day and leave a comment.

Michigan Grist Mill

<
Grist Mill
Grist Mill, painting by Delilah Smith
About This Painting: I painted this old Mill in Howell Michigan. It kept raining on me that day and I didn't think I would be able to get it done. There was finally a small break in the rain and I was able to complete it, wet and cold I had had it by the time it was done. I liked the old electrical line that was really leaning in front of the mill.Someday I will go back and paint it when the sun shines on the rusty old roof.

Michigan Red Neck

Red Neck Rooster
Red Neck Rooster, painting by Delilah Smith
About This Painting: I like the term Red Neck. I have always thought of myself as a bit of a Red Neck. Farm girl and all but the dictionary says, A red Neck is a poor white uneducated southern white person.

Humm. I am from the North and have a masters degree, I wonder if the Red Neck thing is why people keep asking me if I am from the south.

I am working on a series for the fourth of July. I want a rooster, a fish, and all cupcake all with 4th of July themes. I had fun painting this fat guy but it is not what I want for my three paintings, maybe I should make that 4 paintings for the 4th. I want more of the look in the eye that Arizona Chicken had. I think I will try again with more back ground and a group of chickens. See you back at the coop and I better get painting if I want 4 now. If yo would like to see a few more of my daily paintings stop in at my blog Painting of the Day.
